Christ in Action student ministries strives to be a place where relationships are nurtured between college students and with God. Numerous activities are held that provide opportunities for those relationships to grow. Our aim is for every college student who enters our doors to go out of those doors prepared to be a lifetime servant of Jesus.
The ministry is hosted by Broadway Church of Christ. It was started by Broadway in 1957 and was called Bible Chair. It later became Campus Advance (CA) and sometime during the 1990s it became Christ in Action (also CA).
Striving to keep the balance of worship, community, service, and spiritual formation...we:
This ministry is a place that welcomes the unique gifts and abilities of college students. What We Do is reflected by what God calls us to and what you (His creation) bring to the table.
Each semester we anticipate God's presence, help, and leadership. You can check the calender for upcoming events at the bottom of this page to see what we have planned, but we really hope that you'll come help us hear God's direction as we seek to be what he would have us be for this time and this place.

Campus Minister
Since the Spring of 2000 David has been growing and serving in Christ in Action student ministries; first as a student, then as an intern, and since January 2007 as the university minister. A developing passion to love and serve God has in turn given him a desire to connect with and serve college students. David has completed undergraduate studies in agriculture business and received a master's degree in bible and ministry from Lubbock Christian University. His primary ministry is to love, listen to, and learn from the students of TTU, LCU, and SPC and help them discover the life God has offered and the disciples they are becoming. Among his favorite enjoyments in life are his wife and son, the stillness and smell of the morning, and a really good cup of coffee.
Ministry Assistant
Marcia Crabtree has been a member of Christ in Action since 2002. She graduated from Texas Tech University with a double major in Psychology and English in 2006 and has since pursued her teaching certification in Secondary English. Throughout her time in college she was active in CA and now serves there as the Ministry Assistant.
Marcia's favorite part of her job is having good conversations with the students and witnessing them grow and discover their passions and the gifts God has given them. She enjoys nature, reading, photography, and live music.
709 is our college worship gathering in our student center on Wednesday nights. It is named out of our repetitive inability to begin at 7:00; and (much more importantly) because of a text, a vision, a hope and prayer from the book of Revelation:
"After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb." Rev 7.9
Come have a cup of coffee, grab a couch, and worship, pray, and seek God with other students who probably have more in common with your innermost self than you may think.

We start at 9:15. Worship starts at 10:30.
Both are at Broadway Church of Christ, 1924 Broadway. College room is on the 2nd Floor and you are always welcome here.
$2.00 for a home-cooked meal served in the CA student center from 11:30 to 1:00. First time is free! The meal includes homemade bread, meat dish, veggies, dessert, and drink.
These are smaller groups of students seeking Christ in community, as well as providing a place for others to find Christ in community. Each group stives to keep these things in focus:
Ggrowth: working toward spiritual maturity and wholeness, as well as always having room for one more person.
Relationships: giving attention to how we relate with each other and with God.
Outward awareness: allowing the outside needs and hurts to move us into service and prayer for others.
Voice of God: keeping scripture as the central authority, guide, and conversation piece.
Emerging life: looking for the always present movement of the living God among us.
